I have been a very busy lady the last few months, can’t believe it’s August already! I also can’t believe my last post was April! So it’s time for a bit of catch up beginning with my holiday to America back in April which included sailing over on the QM2 and visiting New York and Boston. Here’s a quick little catch up of my trip.
We began by departing from Southampton to spend 7 nights on QM2. There is only one word I can use to describe QM2 and that is excess. Everything about this ship is over the top. For example in the bottom left photo you can see the dinning room I ate in each night, very different from eating pizza each night in my tiny terrace house! The size of the boat was insane, I tried to capture how long the corridors were but couldn’t really get it on camera (top right photo) The people who sail on the QM2 are from a very different world, older and with more money. Don’t get me wrong I love that I had the experience but it really was an insight in to a world of excess with money, food, pampering and so much more!
I had never actually been to America before to I was so excited about being able to sail in to New York and see the amazing skyline and the Statue of Liberty. We arrived at around 6am and the whole of NY was covered in a thick fog and it was pouring with rain. So above are my first glimpses of NY, not really what I expected after seeing it my whole life on film and TV. But regardless of weather I was in America!
After getting off the ship we got straight on a bus to Boston. Boston was really nice and laid back with lots of cool buildings. I only had 4 days there and spent most of them just strolling around taking in the sights. After being surrounding by the sea for 7 days I just loved seeing more then just the ocean for miles.
My favourite part of Boston had the be the aquarium. I haven’t been to one since I was little girl and I have been missing out! I fell in love with it all instantly and became fascinated with all the colours and shapes, I didn’t want to leave!
After Boston we headed back to New York to stay there for a week, and I loved it! There is so much to see in New York that it was impossible to see it all in a week, but we tried. So this part of the holiday was actually exhausting but I was having so much fun I didn’t care. We tried to see as many sight as we could including Empire State Building, watching the Yankees play at Yankee Stadium and of course all the amazing buildings and food!
After having my first holiday in years I came back refreshed and full of ideas for new designs which you will hear all about shortly.
